Trumpeter Roy Campbell's first Delmark CD, New Kingdom, featured three trio performances. The critically acclaimed album was a top ten jazz CD in Cadence's 1993 Readers Poll. The Pyramid Trio's new member Hamid Drake and long-time Campbell collaborator William Parker have been working together since 1994. When a trumpeter couldn't do a tour last spring Roy leapt at the chance to play in Peter Brötzmann's hard-charging Die Like A Dog. Roy would finally get to work with the mighty drummer Hamid, in whom Parker had found a rhythm section soulmate. Ethnic Stew And Brew will take you to Africa, to Asia, to the Bronx and to places more inward. But no matter where Roy leads, this extremely gifted musician brings his individual style. An exciting and vibrant player, Campbell's music comes from his very soul. Listen as the trio takes us on a journey. Also available: New Kingdom (DE-456), La Tierra Del Fuego (DE-469)
